Since January 2007, Michael has served as General Counsel to the Republican Governors Association (RGA). In that role, he has managed compliance and litigation at one of the nation’s foremost political organizations, consulting with governors, staff and donors to ensure compliance with campaign-finance, gift, ethics and pay-to-play laws, and guiding the RGA’s efforts to elect Republican governors across the country over ten annual election cycles. During the George W. Bush Administration, Michael served at the U.S. Department of Justice as Deputy Chief Privacy & Civil Liberties Officer and Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General. Prior to that, Michael served as Deputy General Counsel to Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher.
